Tuesday evening training featured some special guests this week, as Croydon welcomed football legend Karen Carney and a team from TNT Sports to their session. Carney, who retired from the professional game in 2019 following a glittering career for the Lionesses and several clubs in England and the USA, delivered a team talk to members of the First and Development teams ahead of the session. She also delivered a new kit, provided by TNT Sports, for the Development team which they will be wearing for the 25/26 season. The teams then got underway with their training, observed by Karen, as they prepare for their season openers. A huge thank you to Karen and to the TNT Sports for the visit, and for the new kit!

Want to join a successful and supportive local team? More trial dates have now been added for you to try out for Croydon Women’s Football Club! We are looking for committed players to join our First and Development teams. Open age trials for both teams will take place on Saturday 2nd and Saturday 9th August. Players aged 16-18 who are interested in joining either team are invited to join a specific 16-18 trial on Saturday 26th July if they wish. Trials will take place at 2pm on each date at Canons Recreation Ground, Mitcham, CR4 4HB. Last Sunday saw the concluding event of the 24/25 season as Croydon WFC hosted their annual end-of-season awards. Players, committee members, community partners, and family and friends came together to celebrate a season that saw both the First team and Development team make it to their respective Cup finals. Individual awards, voted for by players and committee members, were presented to outstanding players from both teams by Sarah Jones MP, Croydon WFC’s honorary president. For the Development team, Shannon Quinn was awarded Committee Player of the Year, in recognition of her excellent skill on the pitch. Emilia Jimenez was voted Players’ Player of the Season, a well deserved recognition for her incredible effort and improvement over the course of the season. The First team awards saw Av Mountford pick up the Committee Player of the Season, recognising her non-stop energy on the pitch. The date and venue for Croydon WFC Development Team's Cup Final has been confirmed as Saturday 17th May, with the fixture to be hosted at Tooting and Mitcham Community Sports Club. The Final - Croydon Devs' second in three seasons - will see the Trams take on league rivals Lambeth AllStars Reserves. Kick off is at 10am. Tickets can be purchased (cash only) on the day: £5 for adults, £1 for children. Come down and cheer on the Trams!
