First team Captain Sophie Reid reaches 100 caps for Croydon
Croydon’s game against Sutton saw club captain Sophie Reid play in her 100th game for the Trams, the first Croydon player to reach the milestone since the club reformed in 2019. 100 up for Sophie Reid Ever-present in the backline, skipper Sophie joined Croydon in 2021. In her first season, she led the club to a league title, following an unbeaten league run, and promotion to the South East Counties Surrey Premier Division. Winning the league following an unbeaten league run in 2022 A strong defender, Sophie has also shown her attacking potential, scoring several goals for the club, often from long range efforts. In the Trams’ return to the FA cup in 2023, she scored the winning penalty to take Croydon through to the second qualifying round. She also led the team to their first cup final in 2025, as they took on Carshalton in the Surrey Divisional Cup Final. Croydon fall to defeat against Manorcroft
Croydon WFC 0 – 2 Manorcroft United Croydon faced another defeat following a frustrating game at home on Sunday 28 September. The Trams started brightly with several attacking runs from Tyreka Hart-Dolphy and Ash Murkin and an excellent attempt from Beth Brenchley ricocheting off the bar. Manorcroft were also pushing hard, drawing the Croydon defence into action. The Trams could not find a way through, with several shots going wide or straight into the hands of the keeper, leaving it 0-0 at half time. It was Manorcroft who struck first, slotting home a penalty past Yolanda Oke in goal, to put them ahead with around 15 minutes left to play. Croydon secure first league point in close draw with Chessington
Croydon WFC 3 – 3 Chessington and Hook United Ladies 13' Jade Asagba 44' OG 52' Nikiya Palmer-Steele Croydon got a point on the board in a competitive game against league newcomers, Chessington and Hook United. Croydon started strongly, with several excellent chances. Newcomer Nikiya Palmer-Steele made her mark on the game with an excellent run down the wing, carefully finding Beth Brenchley by the box who got the ball to Jade Asagba to finish and put Croydon ahead within 15 minutes. Jade Asagba drives towards the Croydon goal early on Celebrations were short-lived however, when a miscommunication at the back resulted in a Chessington player being brought down in the box. Chessington despatched the resulting penalty and drew level. From there, the game opened up, with both sides having chances to score. Croydon exit FA Cup following penalty shootout
Croydon WFC 1 (1) – 1 (4) Chislehurst Glebe Ladies 46’ Nyalay Lyew-Sang It was a disappointing end to Croydon’s FA Cup hopes as they found themselves on the losing side of a penalty shootout in the first qualifying round. The Trams walk out at the Arena for their FA Cup game. Croydon had started well, keeping possession and stifling chances from Chislehurst Glebe. However, with 15 minutes gone, a mix-up at the back saw Glebe able to put the ball past the oncoming Croydon keeper Eme Blyth, and take the lead. Croydon nearly responded shortly after, when striker Tyreka Hart-Dolphy rounded the Glebe ‘keeper but her shot could only find the side netting, keeping the score 0-1 at half time. Tyreka Hart-Dophy goes for goal. Croydon came out refreshed in the second half and levelled the scoreline almost instantly, with Nyalay Lyew-Sang scoring on her Croydon debut. 50 caps for Amy Dawson!
It was a special matchday on Sunday for Croydon midfielder Amy Dawson as she reached the milestone of 50 appearances for Croydon WFC. Amy joined Croydon in the 2022/23 season and has been ever-present in the team since then. A strong defensive midfielder, Amy works tirelessly in the middle of the pitch and has also netted three times for the Trams, with her goals often the result of superb long-range strikes. Celebrations for Amy after her excellent long-range goal against Beecholme in the 24/25 season. Congratulations to Amy, and here's to many more appearances for Croydon!
